Charles Cabrera - [email protected]

Charles Cabrera, Jr. graduated from Robstown HS in 1973. He received his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Music from Texas A&I University in Kingsville. He is currently in his 42nd year of teaching. Mr. Cabrera serves as the ATSSB Region 14 Coordinator and as President and Founder of the Texas Mariachi Directors Association. His bands have received numerous UIL Sweepstakes Awards and have appeared at the UIL State Marching Contest and TMEA State Honor Band Contest. Him and his wife Irma will have been married for 42 years as of this coming December 23rd and have two sons, Carlos and Miguel. They both have their Master’s Degrees and are also band directors. Carlos is a band director at Clear Creek ISD in Houston and Miguel works with him in Robstown ISD. His five beautiful grandchildren (Carlos, Felicity, Madelyn, Anthony Charles & Claire) are the joy of his life.     

 
Miguel Cabrera - [email protected]

Miguel R. Cabrera is a 2000 Graduate from Robstown HS where he was a two-time 5A All State French horn player and a recipient of the UIL Texas State Solo & Ensemble “Outstanding Performer” award. Mr. Cabrera earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Music from UT Austin in 2005 & 2010 respectively. He is currently in his 13th year of teaching and his bands have earned a total of 9 UIL Sweepstakes Awards.  Mr. Cabrera was recently awarded Provisional Membership as a UIL Concert & Sight Reading Judge by TMAA due to his consistent success at UIL Concert Contest and has served as a UIL Judge. He will marry his fiancé Stephanie Olivarez in June 2020. Mr. Cabrera can be heard playing piano at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Robstown at the Sunday 12noon Mass and at all major Liturgical Celebrations at that Parish.

 

David Hochstetter - [email protected]

David Hochstetter graduated from DeForest High School (Madison, Wisconsin) in 1998 and received his Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point. Mr. Hochstetter performed in various Drum and Bugles corps for 10 years, finishing his experience with 2 years in the Madison Scouts. He then proceeded to use his experience to educate others in the Corps activity for another 10 years. Mr. Hochstetter focuses on percussion education for Robstown ISD, heading up the Winter-Drumline competitive program.  He is also the show designer for the Marching Band.  Under his direction the Red Star Indoor Drumline became the Texas State Champions in Scholastic AA.  He is an avid Stars Wars fan and probably knows more trivia than you.

 

Norma Jean Martinez - [email protected]

Norma Jean Martinez is a 1986 Robstown High School Graduate. She continued her studies at Texas A&I University where she earned her Bachelor Degree in Music Education. Mrs. Martinez is a woodwind specialist with Bb Clarinet being her primary instrument.  She is the Strings Teacher at Seale JH and the Colorguard Instructor for the Cotton Picker Band. Mrs. Martinez has been teaching for 28 years and 18 of those years have been with Robstown ISD. She has also worked in Laredo and Odem ISD. Mrs. Martinez is married to Ramiro Martinez and they have three children: Julissa Gabriela, Isabella Marie and Christian Emmanuel. When she’s not teaching, Mrs. Martinez enjoys spending time with her family, playing her instrument, conducting Zumba Classes and singing at the churches she attends, St. Mary’s and St. Anthony’s.
