1. Is my information confidential?
Because RISD is a public entity, your application is considered a public document and is subject to disclosure, upon request, whether you apply on a paper document or through the on-line process.

Yes. Your application is not considered complete until the documents listed in the instructions are received.

3. Am I required to provide information regarding Teaching Experience if I have not held a teaching position?
If you are new to the teaching field, and do not have previous teaching experience, enter "NONE" for this required field. Be sure to complete the Student Teaching Experience area and the Non-Teaching Experience area, as appropriate.

6. How can I get an application for employment in RISD?
Applications can be downloaded and filled in on your computer or printed out directly from our web
site here. You must print and complete the application and any additional documents and mail or fax them to the Human Resources Department. To receive an application packet by mail, call (361) 767-6600 ext. 2224 or send an e-mail message to: cynthia.espinoza@robstownisd.org. Please include the following information in all e-mail and/or regular correspondence. Failure to include the following information may delay your application process:

7. How do I submit an application?
Applications can be mailed or hand-delivered to the Human Resources office located at:

Note: If a college transcript is required, the transcript must be an OFFICIAL College or University transcript with the original seal. Photocopies of transcripts will not be accepted.

8. How do I fill out an Adobe Acrobat Application?
Adobe Acrobat is computer software which creates Portable Document Format (PDF) documents. This allows documents with complex formatting to be distributed electronically without losing it's formatting. The RISD Applications are all in PDF format and, using the free Adobe Acrobat Reader, these applications can be printed out for faxing or mailing. You cannot save edited PDF files with the Adobe Acrobat Reader program but you can with the full version of Adobe Acrobat.

9. Can I save the PDF application materials to my computer and fill it in at my convenience?
Yes you can.  Please make sure you have the latest version of Adobe's Acrobat Reader.

10. Can I send in an application without specifying a position?
Yes, you can send in an application without listing a specific position and the District will keep your application on file.

11. Is it necessary to complete an application if I have worked for the district in the past?
Yes, it is required that you fill out an application even if you have worked for the district previously.

12. What happens to applications once they are received by Human Resources?
The applicant will receive a confirmation letter from Human Resources once an application has been submitted. It is not necessary to contact the Human Resources office regarding the status of an application. Once an application is complete, principals and/or department staff will review the application file for employment.

13. How do I apply for both a professional and administrative position with RISD?
The applications for both professional and administrative employment are the same. One application is all that is needed to be completed to be considered for a professional or administrative position.

14. What are the requirements when applying for a teaching position?
You must submit an application, college transcript(s) certification(s), three references, and other required paperwork included in the employment packet.

15. Does the district provide avenues for alternative certification?
RISD works closely with Region II and surrounding colleges and universities to provide avenues of alternative certification. If you have questions regarding alternative certification, call (361) 767-6600 ext. 2224. Also, you can view our online certification information for Teachers and Administrators.

16. Do I have to include a letter of intent when applying for a position?
When applying for a specific position, it's helpful to have a letter of intent, however, it is not required.

17. Should an applicant contact the school principal regarding a position?
Applicants should not contact principals by phone. If an applicant is interested in a particular school, they should send a resume to the principal of that
school.
