On Friday, December 4 the Martin Elementary
Student Council represented their school at the
annual "Share Your Christmas" drive held at the HEB in Robstown. The drive
is an annual
event sponsored by KIII TV News. The student council members were able to
collect 940 canned goods
that were delivered to the HEB trailer. After their performance at HEB,
the students were treated to
pizza, apples, and a drink!!
Martin Elementary would like to thank all
their students, as well as their parents,
for all their donations.

A Veteran's Day
ceremony was held at Martin Elementary on Wednesday, November 11 at
the school cafeteria to honor local veterans in our community.
The Gifted and Talented students were featured in the program as
they paid tribute to our vets. After the ceremony a reception
was held in their honor at the library. |

each veteran with a Care Package that was assembled especially for
them from our staff members. |

cousin, Eloy Gamez, who is in the Marines and will be deployed to
Iraq soon. |

The choir entertained the crowd as
they sang several patriotic songs. They consisted of 2nd, 3rd,
and 4th grade GT students. |

| Martin Elementary held Grandparents
On Campus on Friday, Sept. 25. The school held a reception in
their honor at the school cafeteria where they were allowed to sit
and visit with their grandchild and other grandparents. The
Parent Involvement helped with refreshments. |

from Mrs. G. Garza's class helped to celebrate Hispanic Heritage
Month during the month of September. Pictured is Mrs. Garza

Another project to help commemorate
Hispanic Heritage Month at Martin Elementary was the Family Pinata
project.
Our students, along with their parents, created a family pinata as
part of a homework assignment.
Although the project was optional, many families joined in the fun. |

creativity, originality, and level of difficulty.

Martin Elementary held a Storybook
Character Parade on November 20 to highlight characters that students read
about. The parade began on the south end of the school and went
around the front of the school and headed towards Central Office
Administration. Students and staff members had a great time dressing
up as their favorite storybook characters. Characters included in
the student dress up were: Dorothy from the Wizard
of Oz, Cinderella, Harry Potter, Star War Storm Troopers, Ms. Frizzle from
the Magic School Bus, Raggedy Ann, Sister Bear from the Berenstein Bears,
The Cat in the Hat, and many, many more. |
