hello I'm dr. B Valdez superintendent of Robstown ISD I'd like to take this time welcome all our students are parents or faculty and staff back to another exciting school year robstownisd this year we've been planning over the summer any exciting things to partake in for the next school year to make sure kids are successful our slogan for this year is moving forward we want to make sure that you Chance some of the projects and some of the problems we have in our going to be implementing to move our district forward in 2015-16 struggle might like to talk about concerns our little children we were lucky to be the recipients of an Innovative approaches to literacy Grant what is that mean that means it pre-kindergarten classroom through first grade are going to be recipients of a classroom set of iPads and Kindle readers what's his for to make sure we're promoting raining in our classrooms but we don't only want reading to be occurring in our classrooms we want this to happen at home as well so one another big initiative is to make sure that our life razor open after school we'd like to invite all of our parents to bring their children in before school and after school come into our library and check out books so the we know that the or we promote literacy and the more our kids read the better they're going to do in their academic success  okay so we talked a little bit about what we're doing for our younger children talk about what we're doing for students in grades 7 through 12 we also recipients of a right across Texas Grant what is this mean this means that our teachers who are teaching writing and those raid levels are going to receive some instructional coaching from professors out of our University's local universities this is exciting for us because it's going to help our teachers better Riders be able to teach our kids at a level that they need to be able to be successful in our state exams probably remember that last year we implemented our plc's which are professional learning communities last year we let our students leave it at 2:30 which gave our teachers and opportune time get together and discuss curriculum in instruction we're going to continue that for a 1516 school year but we're going to enhance it what do I mean by enhancing we're going to make sure that we are discussing how we're teaching all these strategies to our students our goal is to make sure that every student in robstownisd receives the benefit of having the best in in their classroom every single day making sure we continue on our path to success we have to go back and revisit our so our teachers have been working over the summer and will continue to work throughout the year looking at their curriculum making sure that they have all the materials that they need to teach our children the student expectations that are needed to be successful so that project will continue in every core subject area put also like to speak in behalf of our leadership team out at the campuses in here at central office and after all our teachers the biggest moving forward drive for us this year is going to make sure that we are paying attention to every single student on our campus what are their needs what do they need to be successful in our classroom and that's good be our Focus this year to make sure every student is successful  the last thing I'd like to talk about is probably the most important to us at hear it Shania Steve this is where our teachers are going to be working together and teaching each other how to be better teachers in the classroom so we look at that for exam teachers will get together and they'll talk about a specific student expectation that they're going to be teaching in the classroom and one teacher will get up on the board and teach it to the rest of the teachers what is the other teachers an opportunity to observe a teacher teaching get some ideas so that when they teach this in their classroom they can also make sure that their students are sea so we believe that this is going to be the heart of helping robstownisd move to the next level  again on behalf of the Board of Trustees myself and our staff I'd like to welcome everyone back to another exciting school year it's very exciting for us here at Robstown this year because I'd like to announce that every campus in this dis met standard on our state accountability system plus the district also met standard this is the first time that this has happened at robstownisd since 2009 so we're very excited about that and we're willing to work hard to make sure it continues to happen I'd like to thank all of our parents for choosing robstownisd and I are you we will not let you down
