Robstown Early College High School Band Students Shine at TMEA All Region Orchestra Tryouts! On October 30th, two RECHS band students traveled to Laredo United HS for the TMEA All Region Orchestra tryouts, where Robstown ECHS proudly represented as the only 4A high school.
- Jaydon Garza (11th) placed 5th out of 8 bass trombones.
- Sonya Tobias (12th) earned 2nd out of 23 French horns, securing a place in the orchestra for the third year and advancing to All Area Tryouts on January 11, 2025.
Notably, Sonya has chosen to pursue the challenging 6A All State track. This means that she has forfeited her ability to try out for the 4A All State Band. This decision was not made lightly since she has made 4A All State Band since her sophomore year and was poised to make it for a third year in a row.
Her horn teacher, Mr. Miguel Cabrera, was the last Robstown French horn player to make the TMEA 6A All State Band in 2000 and continues to mentor her through this journey.
