Seale JH Band Director Miguel Cabrera Inducted into Phi Beta Mu

Seale Junior High Band Director Miguel Cabrera was inducted into the Alpha Chapter of Phi Beta Mu International Bandmasters Fraternity during a ceremony in San Antonio on February 15, 2025.

With its roots dating back to 1937, Phi Beta Mu is an international honorary fraternity that recognizes and honors band directors whose dedication and devotion to their profession is paramount.

In a statement, Secretary Scott Coulson praised Cabrera’s selection: “Congratulations on your induction. You were selected for your outstanding musicianship, leadership, and strong moral principles. I encourage you to continue to be influential and to continue to maintain the high standards of Texas bands.”

A graduate of Robstown High School (Class of 2000), Mr. Cabrera earned both his Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Music from the University of Texas at Austin.

He is in his ninth year with Robstown ISD and has 18 years of teaching experience overall. Under his direction the Seale JH Band has maintained a reputation as one of top junior high band programs in South Texas.

During his tenure at Robstown ISD the Robstown ECHS Band made their inaugural appearance at the UIL State Marching Championships. He expressed gratitude to his sponsors into the fraternity—Francisco Sosa (Ramirez Middle School, Laredo), Eddie Benitez (Retired, La Feria), and Emerico Perez (Alice ISD)—for their support and recommendation. Mr. Cabrera is married to Stephanie, a mathematics teacher at Orange Grove High School, and is the son of Charles and Irma Cabrera.
