The Robstown ISD Police Department is aware of a social media trend circulating online referred to as the “Cat in the Hat” trend.
At this time, there is no credible threat to Robstown ISD associated with the circulating video or social media trend.
Robstown ISD Chief of Police Filiberto Tagle has been in contact with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) regarding the circulating content. The Robstown ISD Police Department continues to work closely with the FBI and local law enforcement agencies to monitor the situation and help ensure the safety of our students, staff, and community.
While there is currently no credible threat to Robstown ISD, the district and RISD Police Department want to remind students and families that threatening social media posts are not a joke.
Any social media post, message, image, video, or other communication that contains a threat or causes fear or alarm within our schools or community will be taken seriously and thoroughly investigated.
Individuals who participate in this or similar social media trends by posting threatening content may face school disciplinary action, criminal charges, and arrest when supported by the facts and applicable law, regardless of whether the post was intended as a prank or joke.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to speak with their children about responsible social media use and the serious consequences that can result from posting or sharing threatening content.
If you see or receive a threatening post, do not repost, share, or circulate it. Report it immediately.

Robstown ISD and the Robstown ISD Police Department will continue working with local law enforcement agencies and the FBI and will communicate with families should there be any information that impacts the safety of our schools.
