District Head Nurse

Develop and implement a comprehensive school health program within the framework of the philosophy and objectives established by Board policy, consistent with statutes and standards of regulatory agencies. Deliver school health services focusing on preventive health practices. Promote health education and serve as the nursing staff leader in student health advocacy.

Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred
Current license to practice professional nursing in Texas from the State Board of Nurse
Examiners
Certified in CPR; Vision and Hearing screening

Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to develop, direct, coordinate, and evaluate health services delivery system
Ability to interpret policies and procedures
Ability to manage budget and personnel
Knowledge of community medical and health care services
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Experience:
Four years experience in public school nursing and/or two years experience
in community health nursing
Two years administrative and/or supervisory work experience
Two years clinical practice
