Class of 2020 FAQ

Note: We will update this page as new information becomes available. All answers are subject to change as the situation requires. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

What is the status of graduation?

While we remain hopeful that graduations will take place as scheduled, we have tentatively scheduled an alternate graduation date for July 3, 2020 at the Richard Borchard Fairgrounds.

How and when will class rank be determined?

While grading, GPA, and class rank are local decisions, RISD is also reviewing recent guidance from the Texas Education Agency and networking with other districts in Texas. We will keep students and families informed of when we have detailed decisions available.

How may I request my transcript?

Students may email their counselor to request a transcript.

What about caps and gowns, yearbooks, and other items?

Please monitor your school’s website and social media page. You may also contact your campus principal, who will put you in contact with staff members who can help.

Will there still be AP testing?

Advanced Placement tests have been modified to be completed at home. Each exam will take 45 minutes, and will not include any multiple choice test questions. According to the College Board, the content of these exams has been modified to only include content covered prior to Spring Break.

What is the status of dual credit classes?

All dual credit courses are online. All exam dates, etc. are determined by the individual Del Mar College professor.

May I still apply for financial aid?

Yes. The early deadline for FAFSA applications was January 15, 2020. However, students can still apply and receive grants if they qualify and funds are still available. To complete a FASFA form and to view deadlines, go to www.studentaid.gov.

Will STAAR EOC testing occur for students who have not passed all exams?

No. TEA has waived the EOC requirement for graduating seniors for the 2019-2020 school year. Seniors graduating in this year will need to complete an IGC Project for any EOC exams not yet passed.

Where can the Class of 2020 get more information?

Your principal and teachers are glad to help. If you have a general question not answered by your campus, please email [email protected].  If you are having difficulty reaching your campus, please email us and include your name, grade and school so we may forward the information to someone who can help.
